 Sculptures by the Sea ‘Horizon’

About this Project

Tri-Point installed this sculpture, on behalf of artist Lucy Humphrey, for Sculptures by the Sea 2013.

Named ‘Horizon’, the sculpture was a water filled sphere, wighing 2000kg once full, which had to be carried (carefully) by hand into place by our rigging team on the rocks at Bondi Beach, where it was filled with water once onsite.

Director, Warren Jones, led the install and dismantle crew.

 Anish Kapoor ‘Sky Mirror’

About this Project

The first major exhibition of celebrated artist, Anish Kapoor, was put on by the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney. Tri-Point were engaged to install the “Sky Mirror”, a 10.6m wide concave dish of polished stainless steel, weighing in at 23 tonnes. The artwork was built at an angle pointing up towards the sky so that it’s surface reflected the ever-changing environment.

Pieced together by Kapoor’s team, with the assistance of our riggers, and with a little help from a boom lift and a crane, the structure sat in situ on the banks of Sydney Harbour for approximately 5 months, from December 2012 through to April 2013.

Brisbane Festival

Brisbane Festival

 Brisbane Festival 2011 & 2012

About this Project

Tri-Point worked with Brisbane Festival on their “Santos City of Light” program for 2 consecutive years; 2011 and 2012. Each time, enormous scaffold supports were required for laser, lighting and technical support during the festival. Using our event-style scaffolding, we built the structures offsite with cranes onto a barge, and then the entire set up was manoevred into place. Many thanks to Tri-Point Director, Graeme Dew, and his team of hard working scaffolders who managed the project from design through to implementation.
