HOSH: Madame Butterfly 2014

 Opera on Sydney Harbour 2014

About this Project

For the second year in a row, Tri-Point are proud to have provided the main stage structure and lighting towers to suit 2014’s Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour.

Fast becoming an iconic event around the world, the spectacular 2014 season saw Opera Australia put on a production of Madame Butterfly, which was based on a large grassy hill for the first act, and in a run down Japanese dwelling for the second act.

Tri-Point managed the installation of the pylons into the sea bed, constructing a heavy duty truss grid to sit on top to create the stage that appears to be “hovering” above Sydney Harbour’s waters.

Tri-Point also installed crane bases for the two stage cranes, sub-decking, and a scaffold underworld for the dressing rooms, orchestra pit and set support. Red Circle cladded the set support with their beautiful set decoration.

On either side of the main stage, Tri-Point installed two heavy duty steel goalposts – again on the water – to suit the lighting of the show.

The event takes place at Farm Cove, in the Royal Botanical Gardens, Sydney.

About this Project

Tri-Point has been involved with Vivid Sydney projects for many years on behalf of individual artists and production managers alike. From ground supported truss structures to support LED video walls and lighting installations, to scaffold projection towers and rigging solutions in and around the harbour, Tri-Point have worked on a vast range of bespoke projects at Vivid.

Vivid 2014 was no exception. Tri-Point were recognised as an official event collaborator to Vivid Sydney by providing scaffolding, truss and rigging solutions for Filament Storm.

Produced by Sketch Evolution, the project lit 5 buildings across Sydney’s skyline with illumination technology and we were thrilled to provide the infrastructure for this innovative installation.

About this Project

The Australian of the Year Awards, which was aired live on television on the eve of Australia Day, took place on the lawns in front of Parliament House in Canberra.

Tri-Point provided and installed the bespoke open-air stage design, which included scaffold and decking, large steel PA towers, and angled truss towers along the length of each “catwalk” which were then cladded with set pieces.

About this Project

Tri-Point provided scaffold and decking to support a super-sized clear-roof marquee for the Australian Tourist Exchange (ATE Forum), held on the lawns of the MCA at Circular Quay in Sydney.

With a built-in verandah surrounded by our corporate-style handrails, Tri-Point supplied over 2,000 square metres of scaffolding and decking for the event, and ran shift crew day and night to meet the tight production schedule’s deadline.

Jim Beam Brand Activation

About this Project

Big Kahuna Imagineering came to us with a very interesting brief – to turn the world-famous Bondi Icebergs pool into a giant esky for a Jim Beam brand activation.

Tri-Point provided scaffolding, rigging, counterweight and design support to suit the activation of oversized Jim Beam cans, giant blocks of ice and other special effects trickery required to pull of the job.

We love being challenged with imaginative scenarios requiring invisible rigging solutions, they’re our favourite kinds of jobs! Thanks to the crew at Big Kahuna for such an awesome project.
