 Defqon Festivals

About this Project

Defqon Festival is held at Penrith Regatta Centre around September of every year. The imagination, production values and sheer size of the builds are testament to the fact that no job, no matter how elaborate, is impossible. The team at Defqon go to great lengths to ensure that their audience recieve a totally new experience each year – main stage has been known to shoot fireworks, flames and lasers. One year it even had a ferris wheel!

Tri-Point have been involved with Defqon since they first came to Australia, and have provided staging and rigging to many of their Australian events.

 Rugby World Cup 2012

About this Project

Tri-Point were asked to create screen supports for some big screens down at Darling Harbour in Sydney during the Rugby World Cup 2012. Not one, not two, but three screens were joined together and constructed using our heavy duty alloy box truss with chain motors to lift the screens into place.

The entire structure was built on a barge offsite. It was then travelled to site so that many thousands of people could enjoy the games live at Darling Harbour.

Brisbane Festival

Brisbane Festival

 Brisbane Festival 2011 & 2012

About this Project

Tri-Point worked with Brisbane Festival on their “Santos City of Light” program for 2 consecutive years; 2011 and 2012. Each time, enormous scaffold supports were required for laser, lighting and technical support during the festival. Using our event-style scaffolding, we built the structures offsite with cranes onto a barge, and then the entire set up was manoevred into place. Many thanks to Tri-Point Director, Graeme Dew, and his team of hard working scaffolders who managed the project from design through to implementation.

Biennale of Sydney

Biennale of Sydney

 17th Biennale of Sydney

About this Project

For the 17th Biennale of Sydney in 2010, Tri-Point assisted with this art installation on behalf of Chinese artist Caio Gui-Qiang.

The installation consisted of nine cars rigged in an animated sequence of explosion along the roof of Turbine Hall on Cockatoo Island, Sydney.

Each identical white vehicle appeared frozen in an arc of detonation, blast, launch, timbling, gravitational return and rest.

The cars were pierced with pulsing rods of light.
