Hi Everyone, we hope you’ve all had a fantastic summer and are winding down for some well-deserved vacation time this coming winter! It’s been another busy summer for Tri-Point, filled with big staging projects, blockbuster movies and changing faces in the office team. Here’s our summer round-up for your viewing pleasure!
This summer, Tri-Point has provided staging, production rigging and temporary structures to a range of outdoor festivals and events including Stereosonic, Future Music Festival, Soundwave, the Foo Fighters, Opera on Sydney Harbour, the Australian Open of Surfing, the City of Sydney Christmas Concert, NYE at the Sydney Opera House, Darling Harbour & the Rocks, the Asian Soccer Cup 2015, Sydney Festival and the Bangarra Dance Co’s Anniversary performance at the Opera House, the name a few.
Tri-Point also provided production riggers and scaffolders to suit a variety of additional concerts including the Rolling Stones, One Direction, Ricky Martin and Nitro Circus, and theatre shows including Wicked and Les Miserables.
This season’s Film & Television projects have included highlights such as Gods of Egypt (Feature Film), ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get me out of Here!’ (TV Series), 2.22 (Film), Biggest Loser (TV Series), Masterchef (TV Series), A Place to Call Home (TV Series), Audi (TVC), Mazda (TVC), Childhood’s End (TV Series), and Pirates of the Caribbean (Feature Film).
In our third consecutive year as the supplier for the main stage grid, sat atop the waters of Sydney Harbour, the scaffold underworld, set support and the ‘floating’ PA wings, this year’s Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour was a stunning production of Verdi’s ‘Aida’.
Foo Fighters, Adelaide 2015
After a very last minute call to provide our 25m StageCo Classic roof to suit the beefy production for the Foo Fighters tour at Coopers Stadium, Tri-Point are proud to have turned around the design, project management and delivery in just a few days.
Gods Of Egypt (Feature Film)
Great shot of the gantry’s that Tri-Point put into Stage 7 at Fox Studios just before Christmas 2014, to suit the pick-up shots for feature film, ‘Gods of Egypt’. The film, starring Gerard Butler and Geoffrey Rush, is currently penned for release in early 2016.
Australian Open of Surfing 2015
Nothing lasts forever, and at the end of this summer we unfortunately had to say our teary goodbyes to our Operations Manager, Abi Tabone (pictured right), after 13 long years of service! Abi has left Tri-Point to be a full-time Mum to her three beautiful children, so we wish her all the best for her exciting new future and we hope she’ll still come and visit us from time to time!
Stepping into the role of Operations Manager, Paul Bearne is the newest addition to the Tri-Point family. Paul brings with him a wealth of knowledge and expertise from the Live Events industry, where Paul produced many large-scale events including the G20, Opera on Sydney Harbour and Sydney Festival.
In the past year, we have also recruited Alex Duke as our new Head Rigger, Elie Nachef as our in-house Draftsman, and Katiel Steel, our lovely new Office & Operations Assistant. Belated welcome to you all!

With an overall width of 220mm (or 185mm c-c), we are now stocking a large quantity of F23 Mini Tri-Truss for dry hire and/or fully packaged rigging installations. Available in 3m, 2m and 2.5m sections with optional 90 degree corners.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our lovely Clients, Suppliers and Crew for their ongoing support, and for helping us through another massive year for Tri-Point. We can’t wait to do it all over again next year, see you then!
Back in March, Tri-Point were onto Day 3 of the stage build for the Rolling Stones concert at the Adelaide Oval in South Australia, when the very sad news came through that L’Wren Scott had passed away in the USA.
As a result, the Rolling Stones tour was postponed, and just as soon as the roof has been raised to trim height, the boys commenced dismantle, and we all headed back home.
After Mick Jagger’s very tragic loss, it was unclear if the Stones would come back to complete their highly anticipated tour Down Under.
However, it has now confirmed that the Rolling Stones have rescheduled the dates and venues for the postponed Australian and New Zealand leg of the ’14 On Fire’ Tour.
According to Frontier Touring’s press release, the rescheduling of the tour to October/November has also allowed for two additional concerts to be added to the tour – one at Perth Arena on Saturday 1 November 2014 and the other at Hope Estate in the Hunter Valley on Saturday 15 November 2014.
Ticket holders who are able to attend the rescheduled dates need take no action, their existing ticket will remain valid and their location within the venue will remain unchanged.
Pre-sale tickets for the new Perth and Hunter Valley shows are available via www.frontiertouring.com/rollingstones. Head to the site for further details.
Special guests have also been confirmed as rock legends Jimmy Barnes for the Adelaide show and the Hunters & Collectors for the Auckland show. Special guests will also be shortly announced for the Hanging Rock and Hunter Valley concerts.
